File for Precinct Committeeman or Committeewoman

Greetings Fellow Republicans!

We need YOU to be a precinct committeeman or committeewoman. We are coming up to the end of the candidate filing period so not many days remain. The filing period ends Friday, May 29th. And it is the last day you can file to have your name on the ballot as a candidate for precinct committeeman or committeewoman for the Primary Election in August. You can go to the County Clerk’s office to file. It only takes a couple of minutes to complete the form.

The committeeman/woman is an important part of the local party efforts. We meet only a few times a year. Every two years we have a county convention to select delegates and alternates to the State Convention and on presidential election years we select either a delegate or alternate for the Republican National Convention. If we have a vacancy in county elected positions the County Republican Party is the group that works in recommending a replacement in certain instances.

Johnson County Clerk’s office has the form at their office printed on blue paper and prefer their form as it makes it easier to identify. It is also available at https://sos.wyo.gov/…/Precinct_Person_Application_by_Party_…

Update and Resolutions Due

Plans and training are still proceeding for the County Convention teleconference on Saturday. If you have not registered please check the previous post. Remember that only delegates are allowed to vote, but the meeting is open to all registered Republicans that reside in Johnson County.

If you have a resolution, platform plank, or by-laws change (county or state level) please submit them by 5pm on Friday. Mail to [email protected].

2020 County Convention

I will start out saying the we ARE still having the Johnson County GOP County Convention this Saturday, March 28, at 9:00am. With the corona virus and the Governor’s proclamations regarding size of groups, we must adjust our convention. It will be a teleconference using computer (preferably) or telephones. We will not have anyone at the American Legion.

To participate we need to pre-register by going to this https://tinyurl.com/CountyConventionRegistration. This is needed as the meeting is open only to registered Republicans residing in Johnson County. Our credentialing committee will verify that you are indeed a registered Republican and then send you the information needed to join the teleconference on Saturday.

At the precinct caucus we did not fill all the delegate positions and no alternates were elected. If you will indicate your willingness to serve as an alternate delegate at the convention that will be helpful. We will seat alternates from your precinct for the convention if there is no delegate from your precinct.

Filing Period

Considering running for an elected position?  The filing period opens this Thursday, May 17th and runs through June 1.  More details at Johnson County Primary Election Proclamation.

Note that if you are currently a Precinct Committeeman or Committeewoman you must file again to run for the position.  It is important that we work to fill these positions.  We have 16 precincts and 18 positions.  Precinct 7 & 8 have two addition positions each due to their population.

If you completed a candidate filing form at the precinct caucus they will be submitted on Thursday.

Welcome

Welcome to the website for the Johnson County Republican Party.  We hope that this site will give you, our fellow Republicans, information about what is going on in Johnson County, the state of Wyoming and nationally.

2018 will be a major time for each of us to be active in the party as this election year will be an important one for Wyoming.  At the federal level we have the House and one Senate seat up for election.  On the state level all five executive positions and our House District seat will be on the ballot.  On the county level, most of the elected positions will be open.  This means that there may be new candidates seeking the to be elected to office.  And it opens the door for the Democratic Party and others who we can expect to work diligently to put their candidate in these offices.

One of our goals at the county level is to be informative and educational.  Many don’t realize how the party functions.  There is much that happens at the each level.  From the precinct, to the county, on to state and federal there are many things going on.  While this is not a presidential election year we hope to already begin explaining how things work within the spectrum of our party.

Check back and see what is going on.  From caucuses, conventions, political campaign events and more.  This is the year to know what is happening.
